Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Alberta in Calgary is seeking a Workforce Development Partner to support Youth@Work and connect employers with inclusive opportunities. You will engage local businesses, coach employers, and coordinate program services to help young people facing barriers gain meaningful work.

The role is a full-time, 1-year contract (37.5 hours/week) with a salary of $45,300–$53,294 per year, and travel within the Calgary area is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education preferred.
  • Experience in social services is preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Able to travel within the community.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers to identify inclusive opportunities.
  • Conduct outreach via calls, emails, site visits, events to identify positions.
  • Research labour market trends to propose customized employment solutions.
  • Coach employers on inclusive hiring practices and accessibility.
  • Support employers through recruitment, onboarding and retention.

Youth@Work is a no-cost program that supports Calgary employers in attracting, hiring, and retaining resilient youth aged 18–29 who face barriers to employment. These young individuals bring motivation, adaptability, and valuable perspectives that strengthen workplaces.

What you'll be doing:
Employer Engagement & Job Development
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local employers to understand workforce needs and identify inclusive employment opportunities.
  • Conducting outreach through phone calls, emails, site visits, networking events, and job fairs to identify job, volunteer, and work‑experience opportunities.
  • Researching employers and labour market trends to propose customized employment solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Working with employers to identify appropriate tasks, assess staffing gaps, and develop job‑carved or customized roles.
  • Coaching employers on inclusive hiring practices, workplace accessibility, and strategies to support employees with disabilities and other barriers.
  • Advising employers on recruitment strategies, job postings, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and retention practices.
  • Supporting employers throughout the full employment lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to training, retention, and employee growth.
  • Fostering long‑term partnerships that build employer capacity for inclusive employment beyond individual placements.
Employment Support & Individual Coaching
  • Supporting individuals in identifying employment goals and conducting effective job searches.
  • Assisting with applications, resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, and references aligned with individual employment plans.
  • Arranging and supporting interviews, including attending interviews when appropriate to provide coaching and encouragement.
  • Meeting individuals in community settings and offering flexible scheduling to meet participant needs.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries while building supportive, respectful relationships with individuals and their supports.
Program Coordination & Documentation
  • Collaborating closely with other Career Connections team members to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Communicating participant progress, successes, and concerns with internal team members and key stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate job search activity logs and employment records.
  • Completing timely and detailed documentation in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) and other funder‑required systems.
  • Ensuring all reporting meets program, organizational, and funder requirements.
Community Outreach, Education & Advocacy
  • Acting as a Goodwill ambassador by promoting disability inclusion and employment equity within the community.
  • Encouraging employer and community acceptance of individuals facing barriers to employment.
  • Delivering group workshops and presentations on employment‑related topics.
  • Supporting and participating in career fairs, conferences, and other employment‑focused community events.
Other Responsibilities
  • Working flexible or irregular hours as required to meet program and participant needs.
  • Traveling within the community to meet with employers and participants.
  • Participating in team meetings, training, and professional development activities.Performing other related duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
  • Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education preferred.
  • 1 years’ experience in social services sector is preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Experience supporting people with Disabilities is an asset.
  • Inside/outside sales experience would be considered an asset.
  • Valid First Aid certificate.
  • Must pass a criminal record check including a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid class 5 driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Interest and ability to work with individuals with disabilities.
  • Belief in inclusive employment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through oral and written communication and documentation.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to empower and motivate others.
  • Friendly with a professional appearance and demeanour.
