Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) invites undergraduates in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering programs to join a multi-disciplinary team in the Elk Valley, British Columbia. This 8- or 12-month co-op role begins January 2027 and offers real-world project experience in process development, environmental awareness, and safety collaboration with engineers and operations.

You will contribute to design evaluation, vendor interactions, and project documentation while expanding your professional

Qualifications

  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Civil or Projects Engineering or Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Materials Engineering.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD/SolidWorks advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in health and safety programs and policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations and consultants on process development and troubleshooting.
  • Support Project Management in evaluating vendor proposals, scheduling, cost control and commissioning.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams and prepare environmental awareness materials.
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to improve business processes.

In this role, you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Seeking ways to improve our process by collaborating with the engineering team, operations and consultants on new process development, quality assurance initiatives, day-to-day troubleshooting, and evaluation test work
  • Support the Project Management team in evaluating vendor proposals, progressing designs, completing the project framework documents, support RFP's, scheduling, cost control, construction execution and commissioning
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary professional teams, support activity projects, prepare and deliver environmental awareness materials to employees
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
Requirements:
  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Civil or Projects Engineering or Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Materials Engineering with a passion for project based work
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and a solid understanding of AutoCAD and Solidworks would be advantageous
