Job summary

Qualifications

  • Working toward an Undergraduate degree in Mining/Mineral Resource Engineering.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.
  • Able to operate vehicles in varied weather and terrain.
  • Motivated self-starter able to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic industrial environment with diverse personnel.
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly mine operation plans with engineering and operations.
  • Contribute to mine planning and design including pit/dump design and autonomous fleets.
  • Support drilling, blasting, surveying and provide technical services to production.
  • Monitor operations and assist with geotechnical evaluations and procedures.
  • Assist with permit compliance documentation and reporting.
  • Conduct economic evaluations and productivity analyses; support CAPEX paperwork.
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to improve operations.

Job description

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) operates four steelmaking coal mines that employ over 5,000 people in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. In this role, you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations for the development of daily, weekly and monthly mine operations plans
  • Work in wide ranges of mine planning and design, including pit and dump design, traditionally operated and autonomous fleets, production scheduling, and optimization
  • Contribute to drilling, blasting and surveying activities and provide technical services to mine production and other mine site departments
  • Monitor and perform analyses of operating areas, work with geotechnical evaluations of mine plans and operating procedures
  • Assist with the development, tracking, and reporting of compliance of mine permits
  • Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, and assist with capital expenditure documentation
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
Requirements:
  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Mining/Mineral Resource Engineering
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions
  • Able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Motivated self-starters with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
