Lookout Housing and Health Society in Courtenay, BC, is seeking a full-time Janitor/Maintenance Worker to maintain cleanliness and ensure building systems are running smoothly. The role reports to the Site Manager and supports staff and volunteers while serving adults with low income.

Shift times will be 1000 - 1800 Hours
Shifts are 7.5 hours in length
Days of rest shall be consecutive. Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice
Probationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point reviews
Salary: $26.72 - 28.48 depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement)
The Janitor Maintenance Worker reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. Janitor/Maintenance Workers ensure the cleanliness of the overall site, both inside and outside. The worker will also ensure that building functions such as mechanical, plumbing, and electrical are properly maintained. Ongoing maintenance and janitorial work is required on premises.
This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (certificate of recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.
