Job description

JOB TITLE: IT Warehouse Management System (WMS) Specialist

LOCATION: Mississauga, ON (Retail and E-Commerce Warehouse)

REPORTING TO: IT Director

Position Overview: Reporting to UNIQLO IT Leadership, the WMS Expert will be supporting the UNIQLO Canada both Retail and E-Commerce Warehouses located in Mississauga and Calgary. Achieving smooth and stable system operations for the warehouse is critical in achieving UNIQLO’s supply chain reform initiatives, aimed at positioning UNIQLO as an innovative retailer with strong international Digital Operations, as well as enabling our multichannel strategy.

The WMS Specialist’s primary role is to ensure that incidents involving IT hardware and software in the warehouse are addressed and managed in a timely manner. This employee will be the immediate point of contact for the warehouse, particularly regarding the Fast Retailing Warehouse Management System (FRWMS). This includes management of inquiries, incidents/system trouble, coordination with off-shore 24x7 IT support, key-user training for the new function releases, data manipulation and analysis, device procurement and support, among many other things. The WMS Specialist will work closely with the warehouse operations managers and external vendors in identifying workarounds, recovery plans, solutions, in cases where warehouse operation is affected by system issues.

Additionally, the WMS Specialist will be the overall leader/coordinator for any troubleshooting that is required with other IT systems involved in the warehouse operations such as Network, Warehouse Management System (WMS), Transportation Management System (TMS), Packing operations, RFID, E-Commerce Order Management System (OMS). The WMS Expert will work closely with vendor partners/residents who directly manage these systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Systems: Fast Retailing Warehouse Management System (in-house solution), Inventory Management System (in-house solution), Order Management System (in-house solution).
  2. Multiple vendor coordination for external systems used in the warehouse (WMS, RFID Systems, Transportation Management System).
  3. Fundamental ability to troubleshoot PCs, other devices and networks + coordinate with manufacturers for repairs / after-sales support.
  4. Database manipulation and analysis by SQL or other data tools.
  5. Simple programming skills to improve operations efficiency and productivity.
  6. Procurement Support:
    1. Equipment procurement requested from business division.
    2. Enforcing loss and damage prevention measures for UNIQLO’s IT assets in the warehouse.
    3. Collect quotes from all vendors and calculate the budget and submit to the management.
  7. Operations Improvement:
    1. Working with warehouse IT supervisors in training/educating users on correct system operations.
    2. Working with the IT offshore support team in the timely resolutions of incidents.
    3. Working with GHQ IT in releasing new global functionalities and system enhancements to the local operations.
  8. Documentation:
    1. Creating/updating standard operation procedures (SOP) / system manuals provided to warehouse users.
    2. Working with IT offshore support in creating Knowledge Base Articles (KBA’s) especially for frequent/highly reoccurring issues.
    3. Periodical maintenance of IT Hardware files and software asset lists.
  9. Adhoc responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. 5-7 years of progressively increasing responsibilities in warehouse operations, especially in the IT area.
  2. Bachelor’s degree.
  3. Customer oriented.
  4. Ownership and sense of urgency especially during critical situations.
  5. Experience implementing and maintaining warehouse IT systems.
  6. Retail Experience preferable.
  7. Passion for current and emerging trends in supply chain reform and warehouse system management.
  8. Ability to manage several projects at the same time and assess priorities.
  9. Ability to work with little supervision and report accordingly.
  10. Ability to provide high level service and follow through.
  11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Ability to travel for business trips both domestic (2-4 times/year) and internationally (1-2 times/year).
  13. Ability to work overtime to attend morning & night meetings with Japan time zone could be an asset.
