Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is hiring an IT Technologist to support the Maritime Helicopter Training Simulator (MHTS) program at the Fumerton-Bing Training Centre (FBTC) in Shearwater. The MHTS trains RCAF Pilots, TACCOs, and SENSOs for maritime helicopter missions, and also supports maintenance personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience with computers, server equipment, and electronic control systems similar to those used in MHTS.

As an IT Technologist, responsibilities include maintaining MHTS equipment, troubleshooting, system upgrades, and supporting system validation. The role is full-time with benefits, primarily onsite at FBTC, but based out of Dartmouth.

Responsibilities

• Providing system installation support, system checkout, and performance demonstrations.
• Offering ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications.
• Performing routine maintenance, backups, inspections, upgrades, and customer support.
• Configuring data systems, installing hardware/software, and supporting training.
• Representing maintenance needs to internal support groups.
• Supporting maintenance documentation and hardware management.
• Maintaining hardware and test equipment.
• Occasionally working outside regular hours as needed.
• Supporting the Life Cycle Maintenance Manager.
• Working flexible hours due to shift operations from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, Monday to Friday.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The candidate must have:

• 4-6 years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of installing/configuring computer hardware and peripherals.
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows OS, including Windows XP and Server 2008, and RAID systems.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, RS232, USB).
• Certification such as MRC or equivalent experience.
• Experience with switches, routers, UPS, and peripherals.
• Troubleshooting skills for IT diagnostic tools and OS functions.
• Effective communication skills and adaptability.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Ability to work at sites outside GDMS-C control if required.

Assets include familiarity with airborne mission systems, simulators, and MIL-STD systems.
