Who we are looking for:
Triple Eight Transport Inc. is seeking a dedicated and motivated IT Technician to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will provide tier 2 level technical support to end-users and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires familiarity with TMS, JIRA, Cloud Technologies, basic knowledge of Network Firewalls, Active Directory, and experience with server room hardware and patch management. The role also requires travel to different locations for on-site support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to and resolve basic technical support requests from end-users via phone, email, or ticketing system (e.g., JIRA).
- Provide initial troubleshooting and support for hardware, software, and network issues, including basic issues related to network firewalls.
- Assist with user account management and system access requests in Active Directory.
- Manage and maintain user access permissions and security policies in AD.
- Document support requests, resolutions, and troubleshooting steps in the service management system (JIRA).
- Assist with the management and troubleshooting of peripherals (e.g., printers, scanners, external drives).
- Assist with server room hardware management, ensuring proper functionality and maintenance of servers and network equipment.
- Perform patch management to ensure all systems and software are up to date and secure.
- Escalate complex issues to Tier 3 team when necessary.
- Ensure the security and integrity of the network, assisting with the basic configuration and monitoring of network firewalls.
- Maintain knowledge of common technical issues and provide solutions to end-users.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient resolution and timely communication.
- Assist in maintaining and updating IT support documentation and knowledge base.
- Travel to different locations on company's expense for on-site technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
- All other duties assigned by Triple Eight Transport Inc.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- IT or Cloud Certifications (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) will be considered an asset.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical support or helpdesk role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with other office productivity tools.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Active Directory for user management and permissions.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for a minimum of 2 years is required.
- Prior experience in managing peripherals (e.g., printers, monitors, scanners) and maintaining server room hardware.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and familiarity with Network Firewalls.
- 2+ years of experience with JIRA and other ticketing systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management System) and its functionalities is a plus.
- Previous knowledge of EDI will be considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving abilities and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on customer service and a client-oriented mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada.
Desired Skills:
- Basic understanding ofNetwork Firewallmanagement and configuration.
- Experience withpatch management, asset managementand software updates.
- Familiarity withticketing systems(e.g. JIRA).
- Knowledge of basic IT security practices and policies.
- Ability to collaborate with other IT team members and departments.
