This is a 2-year temporary position.

Nature & Scope

The IT Systems Analyst is a senior technical role within the Information Technology department. This role requires an individual who can lead and mentor junior technical staff, manage complex technical initiatives. On occasion, work may be required outside of usual business hours, such as on evenings and weekends.

The IT Systems Analyst will also support network infrastructure, virtualized servers, and other cloud-hosted solutions. Under direction of the Enterprise Data Architect, this position will perform database administration tasks and create or maintain system integrations. The work requires a considerable degree of independent judgment and action within established guidelines. The incumbent in this role will have access to confidential information in the course of their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Play an important role in the district’s strategic project to implement a modern cloud-based ERP, directly supporting the Enterprise Data Architect and other project leaders.
  • Design, analyze and implement efficient IT systems. Evaluate existing systems and identify areas for improvement.
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues, provide support for second and third level technicians to ensure enterprise systems are functioning and available for users and other dependent sub-systems or processes.
  • Coordinate system updates. Analyze updates to determine their impact on existing systems and integrations prior to applying. Managing the update process to minimize disruptions.
  • Performs testing of updates, configuration changes or enhancements to ensure system integrity.
  • In coordination with Business Analysts, develop and review test scripts and scenarios to ensure adequate testing of system configuration and integration.
  • Actively engage with department leads to understand inefficiency or usability issues and make recommendations for enhancement opportunities.
  • Assist with the design and configuration of integrations that facilitate the movement of data between systems.
  • Maintain documentation that allows IT staff to provide end-user support and training.
  • Research new technologies and emerging trends. Analyze new tools, frameworks and methodologies to enhance system performance and security.
  • Analyze, document, and improve processes across the organization to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Interact with people at various levels of the organization and work effectively with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in IT, with three years of related experience managing and maintaining complex IT systems such as ERP systems.
  • Certification in relevant IT systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion Cloud) is considered an asset.
  • Certification in project management (PMI) or business analysis (IIBA) is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport, influence others, negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations
  • Excellent analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a dynamic environment to meet overall objectives.
  • Thorough working knowledge of various Microsoft applications, including the M365 suite of applications (Project, Planner, Teams, and Visio).
  • Experience with data and development tools such as SQL Server, Power BI, Power Query, PowerShell, and other similar tools is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Open VMS and PowerSchool Atrieve is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ongoing career development through active and self-motivated professional development.
  • In district travel may be required, possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $90,291 - $112,864per year with comprehensive benefits package and Municipal Pension.

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of qualifications and ability to meet the key requirements of the job, and consideration of internal equity comparisons.The midpoint of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position.
