Actalent is seeking an IT Support / Systems Administrator in Burnaby, BC. You will provide Level 1/2 support, manage a ticket queue, and assist with onboarding new hires and Microsoft 365 administration. The role includes Intune device management, networking support, and contributing to infrastructure upgrades.

This is a contract, onsite role based in Burnaby, offering hourly compensation in a collaborative IT team environment with leadership support.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of IT support and/or systems administration experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft products.
• Practical experience using Intune for device and application management.
• Proven onboarding experience including account creation and access configuration.
• Solid networking knowledge: DNS, VLANs, switching, and routing.
• Ability to manage and prioritize a pipeline of support tickets.

Job Description

The IT Support / Systems Administrator will provide Level 1 and Level 2 support, manage an active ticket pipeline, and play a key role in onboarding new hires. This role reports into IT leadership and collaborates with a small, supportive team to maintain and enhance the organizations IT environment. Over time, the position will contribute to building and upgrading core IT infrastructure, including networking and server technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for end users, resolving issues related to hardware, software, applications, and network connectivity.
• Manage and work through an existing pipeline of support tickets, ensuring timely, accurate, and customer-focused resolution.
• Handle onboarding activities for new hires, including setting up user accounts, permissions, access rights, and required applications.
• Administer and support Microsoft suite of products, ensuring users have the tools and access they need to perform their roles effectively.
• Configure and manage Intune for device management, application deployment, and security policies.
• Support and maintain networking components, including DNS, VLANs, switching, and routing, to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
• Assist in building out and enhancing IT infrastructure as the organization grows, including servers, networking equipment, and related systems.
• Collaborate with IT leadership and team members to identify areas for improvement in systems, processes, and security posture.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrade projects, contributing to planning, implementation, and testing as needed.
• Document procedures, configurations, and solutions to create and maintain clear technical and user-facing documentation.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience in IT support and/or systems administration roles.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft suite of products.
• Practical experience using Intune for device and application management.
• Proven experience onboarding new users, including account creation, permissions, access configuration, and application setup.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, VLANs, switching, and routing.
• Ability to manage and prioritize a pipeline of support tickets while maintaining high‑quality service.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills across hardware, software, and network issues.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical users.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small IT team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with IT security concepts, tools, or processes.
• Experience participating in or leading infrastructure upgrade initiatives.
• Familiarity with server environments and infrastructure components.
• Interest in contributing to the design and growth of IT systems and architecture over time.

Work Environment

The role operates within a growing, technology‑focused environment where IT plays a critical part in supporting day‑to‑day operations and long‑term scaling. You will work closely with IT leadership and at least one additional team member who provides part‑time support, creating a collaborative setting with shared responsibilities. The environment includes a mix of end‑user support, device management through Intune, and networking technologies such as routers, switches, DNS, VLANs, and routing. As the organization continues to expand, you will be involved in evolving the infrastructure, including Windows‑based servers and related systems. The position may involve a combination of desk‑based work, remote support, and hands‑on configuration of equipment, with a focus on maintaining a professional, reliable, and secure IT environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Burnaby, BC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
