The role focuses on designing electrical distribution infrastructure, including overhead and initial underground design, using SPIDAcalc and other tools, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, coordination with stakeholders, and on-time delivery of design packages.

• 0 to 4 years of design experience in overhead or underground utility distribution and/or telecom infrastructure.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD software.

Responsabilidades

• Design overhead electrical infrastructure according to client and national standards and requirements, with some underground design initially.
• Use SPIDAcalc non-linear pole line analysis tool to evaluate pole design and create non-standard overhead line design solutions.
• Utilize underground cable pulling calculation software, such as Pull Planner, to confirm design solutions.
• Apply load balancing and fuse coordination software for distribution system improvement projects.
• Provide design for any non-standard/engineered solutions.
• Prepare design packages for review and submission, including Pole Replacement/Maintenance, Feeder Design, Smart Meter, and Customer Driven 3rd Party Attachments.
• Check and review the work of peers.
• Prepare issue for construction packages.
• Coordinate with clients, co-workers, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Attend project meetings and conduct site inspections and reviews.

Job Title: Distribution Designer

We are a fast-growing engineering consulting group that expanded to Canada in 2014 and is now seeking a Distribution Designer (Distribution Design Technologist) to join our Utilities Division in New Westminster, BC. This full-time position supports our Western Canadian Operations, focusing on Infrastructure and Utilities projects, specifically electrical utility infrastructure. The role involves liaising with project stakeholders, completing project designs, and performing quality assurance functions. We are looking for individuals who take ownership, are career-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead electrical infrastructure according to client and national standards and requirements, with some underground design initially.

Essential Skills

• Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma (preference for BCIT Power program)
• 0 to 4 years of design experience in overhead or underground utility distribution and/or telecom infrastructure
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD software

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the design of BC Hydro Underground (UG) and/or overhead (OH) power distribution systems is an asset
• Experience using SPIDAcalc, PLS-CADD, DAD, and/or Passport

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of New Westminster, BC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.90 - $41.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
