We are looking for a Business Analyst experienced with payment environment for one of our clients, an investment bank set in Montreal

Role Overview :

The candidate will be part of the Payments & Cash Management IT team based in Montréal. The team is currently engaged in key initiatives focused on enhancing and evolving internal payment systems and cash management platforms, with a strong emphasis on SWIFT messaging and regulatory compliance.

This cross-border team is split between Montréal and New York, working closely with the U.S.-based Treasury department. The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between Business and IT stakeholders, helping translate business requirements into functional solutions while supporting the implementation of new features into existing applications.

The role involves close collaboration with developers, QA, and business users, with a strong focus on end-to-end testing phases, documentation, and ensuring regulatory alignment.

Key responsibilities :

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Use Project Management best practices : identify project scope, define project plan and workload, follow up and report regularly to projects sponsors and escalate issues.
  • Strong analytical skills in order to assess processes to identify strengths and weaknesses and suggest new work processes or tools.
  • Prepare, edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
  • Lead testing efforts, define test conditions, and develop accurate and complete test plans.
  • Train users on new business applications and edit user's procedures
  • Ensure that issues are identified, tracked, reported.

Required Qualifications and Skills :

Must Have :

  • 5+ years of relevant experience as Business Analyst.
  • Advanced knowledge in SQL.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize work amongst multiple projects
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Adaptability to changing and growing user needs
  • Identifies opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Willingly accepts challenging assignments
  • Favors solutions that can be re-used by others

Nice to have :

  • Knowledge of payments processes including, but not limited to, Swift Alliance, FED, Chips, SSIs and OFAC primarily for the USD market
  • Knowledge of cash management processes including, but not limited to, projecting EOD balances, reconciling projected vs actual intraday, self-clearer vs correspondent payments
  • Knowledge of intraday liquidity regulations and trends i.e. Basel III mandates
  • Knowledge of security settlements i.e. DTCC
