Job summary

NAIT is seeking an energetic instructor to deliver adult education in ironworker trades across classroom, lab and industry settings. The role focuses on curriculum development, assessment, and student performance within a postsecondary context in Canada.

Responsibilities include delivering lessons for apprenticeship streams, maintaining records, and participating in program reviews. Strong communication and collaborative teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after first Journeyperson ticket.
• Ability to deliver adult education in a postsecondary or skilled trades environment.
• Credentials evaluation recommended for education earned outside Canada (WES/IQAS/CES).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in classroom, lab and industry settings.
• Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews.
• Facilitate learning with instructional strategies for effective delivery of course materials.
• Manage instructional delivery and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Create assessment tools to evaluate learning and maintain progress records.
• Provide coaching and tutoring to maximize student success and retention.
• Utilize educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners.
• Deliver lessons for apprenticeship streams (Ironworker) including Structural, Reinforcing Steel or Metal Building Systems Erection.
• Supervise practical shop assignments; administer and grade assignments and exams.
• Other duties as assigned.
