The role demands independence, meticulous due diligence, and professional polish to interface with clients, expert witnesses, and foreign agents while handling end-to-end pre-litigation mandates and trial preparation.

Qualifications

• Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate and active membership in ILCO or equivalent preferred.
• 5–7 years of dedicated litigation experience in IP/Litigation at a major firm.
• Experience with legal systems and platforms like ACL.
• Familiarity with corporate billing platforms like Aderant or Elite 3E for bills of costs and invoicing.
• Direct experience managing electronic filings, trial records, and Books of Authorities in the Federal Court of Canada is mandatory.
• Ontario Court experience is an asset.
• Strong organization, communication, and ability to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy over strict limitation windows and flag deadlines for pleadings, motions, and appeals.
• Coordinate electronic filing, service, and data-formatting of high-profile records (Claims, Factums, Books of Authorities).
• Serve as liaison between IP litigation counsel, clients, and expert witnesses.
• Oversee e-discovery data flows and organize document productions; track undertakings and refusals.
• Draft routine procedural court documents, motion records, notices of appearance, and affidavits of documents.
• Manage the administrative lifecycle of IP disputes including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs.
• Prepare Bills of Costs for court assessments and compile status reports for firm management.
