Job summary

XPV Water Partners is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its investment team. The analyst will support the investment process through research, analysis, and groundwork to identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities in growth investing for water sector opportunities.

The ideal candidate is analytical, resourceful, and action-oriented, with strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships, and a willingness to leverage AI tools to improve workflows and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, analytics, or STEM.
  • Internship experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, search funds, venture capital, or related investing environment is required.
  • Evidence of achievement outside the classroom (entrepreneurship, leadership, athletics) demonstrated.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and evaluate potential investment targets within defined themes, delivering prioritized target lists and outbound outreach.
  • Support development of investment themes by researching market size, dynamics, major participants, M&A landscape, deal availability, and water security impact.
  • Research conferences, industry events, target companies, and attendees, preparing actionable summaries for the Investment team.
  • Support live transactions by tracking data room materials, identifying information gaps, and updating investment memos.

Responsibilities

The Investment Analyst will support the investment team across areas that include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying, researching, and evaluating potential investment targets within defined themes, delivering prioritized target lists, and conducting outbound outreach and cold calling to generate and advance investment opportunities.
  • Supporting the development of investment themes by researching market size and dynamics, major industry participants, the M&A landscape, deal availability, and the potential impact on water security.
  • Researching conferences, industry events, target companies, and relevant attendees, and preparing actionable summaries for the Investment team.
  • Supporting live transactions by tracking data room materials, identifying information gaps and updating investment materials and memos.
  • Working alongside Associates and Deal Leads to contribute to financial modelling, diligence, negotiations, legal processes, and other stages of the investment lifecycle.
  • Analyzing quarterly portfolio company valuations and the preparation of financial reporting materials.
  • Using AI and other technology tools to improve and automate research, analysis, information management, and team workflows.
  • Providing additional support as required.
Experience & Education
  • Strong academic background in business, finance, economics, engineering, STEM, analytics, data, or a related field.
  • Previous internship experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, search funds, venture capital, or another relevant investing environment is required.
  • Evidence of achievement outside the classroom through one or more of the following:
  • Entrepreneurial or founder experience.
  • Leadership in student-run clubs or organizations.
  • Competitive athletics, or other high-performance pursuits.
  • Candidates from STEM, engineering, analytics, or data-focused backgrounds are encouraged to apply where they can demonstrate a clear interest in investing.
Skills and Characteristics
  • Strong communicator who can effectively conduct outbound outreach, including cold calling, and has the ability to clearly summarize research, present ideas, and make a compelling case to different audiences.
  • AI-enabled and comfortable using technology to improve workflows, productivity, and the quality of work.
