Job description

The Opportunity

Picton Investments is seeking a seasoned Senior Business Analyst to bridge business needs with technology solutions across our investment management platform. In this role, you will partner with front- and middle-office teams to analyze workflows and data flows, primarily around Securities Master File (SMF) and Investment Book of Record (IBOR) data, and drive enhancements across Charles River IMS (CRIMS), Bloomberg DL, Snowflake ODS, and other trading and market data systems. You’ll be responsible for translating complex business requirements into functional solutions, improving CRIMS user experience through custom reports, integrations, and workflow optimizations, and ensuring systems continue to meet evolving business needs. This is a highly collaborative role where you will work closely with investment professionals, technology teams, and external vendors to deliver solutions that enable efficiency, accuracy, and better decision‑making.

The expected annual base salary for this role is $120,000 – $130,000 depending on your experience, skills, and education. On top of that, you’ll be eligible for our discretionary bonus program.

You’ll Have the Opportunity to Learn and Lead
  • Collaborate with traders, portfolio managers, operations, compliance, and external vendors (CRD, Bloomberg, State Street, etc.) to configure workflows that minimize pain points while retaining necessary controls.
  • Translate business workflows and data needs into functional specifications and ensure timely delivery of technology solutions.
  • Partner with developers, QA teams, and business application support to ensure integrations (SOD/SMF/IBOR/Benchmark data) are accurate and timely.
  • Act as a CRIMS Subject Matter Expert (SME), occasionally providing Level 2 support and consulting to business users.
  • Identify and analyze emerging trends, data patterns, and issues to guide strategic decision‑making.
  • Mentor colleagues, share expertise across practice communities, and help build analytical capability within the organization.
  • Stay ahead of evolving technologies in investment systems, analytics, reporting, and data visualization.
  • Contribute to business cases and project funding requests by clearly defining scope, risks, and benefits.
  • Lead structured requirements gathering, stakeholder walkthroughs, and validation sessions to ensure solutions meet expectations.
  • Play a critical role in shaping the investment data and system landscape by recommending and implementing innovative approaches.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 7+ years in financial services, investment/wealth management, or capital markets technology.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (MBA/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field preferred).
  • Domain Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of asset classes, securities, portfolio management, trading, compliance, and performance reporting.
    • Expertise in trade life cycles, mutual funds, ETFs, derivatives, and structured products.
    • Strong grasp of SMF, IBOR, portfolio accounting, and investment risk data attributes.
  • Systems Expertise:
    • Hands‑on with Charles River IMS (CRIMS) implementations, upgrades, and workflows (entitlements, rebalancing, compliance, benchmarking, IBOR, collateral, etc.).
    • Proficiency with Bloomberg DL, PORT, RIMES, Refinitiv, FactSet, Markit EDM, State Street DataGX/Alpha, BARRA risk analytics.
    • Familiarity with Snowflake, SQL, PowerBI, MS Excel/Visio, and data visualization/reporting tools.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile/Scrum/Waterfall methodologies.
    • Jira, Confluence, relational databases, advanced data analysis techniques.
    • Strong documentation, requirements analysis, and process modeling skills.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and influence skills.
    • Strong problem‑solving ability and analytical mindset.
    • Ability to work independently while managing complex stakeholder needs.
    • Leadership in mentoring, knowledge sharing, and fostering collaboration.
Benefits
  • Competitive total rewards and performance‑based bonuses.
  • Equity ownership program for eligible employees.
  • Profit sharing.
  • Health and wellness coverage.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Learning and development programs.
