Job summary

Valnet Inc. is seeking an Investment & AI Operations Analyst in onsite Montreal. You will partner with business leaders to quantify profitability improvements, link investment theses to outcomes, and accelerate analysis with AI and automation.

The role blends finance rigor with hands-on technical execution. You will model revenue initiatives, monitor P&L across portfolios, and drive high-yield investments while building AI-powered workflows to accelerate growth and decision speed.

Qualifications

• 0–5+ years of experience in M&A, private equity, strategy consulting, or related finance roles.
• Strong P&L intuition and understanding of operational drivers, not just financial outputs.
• Advanced modeling and scenario analysis using Excel/Sheets.
• AI-native mindset with hands-on experience using AI tools (LLMs, agents, workflow automation).
• Ability to turn data into actionable business insights and influence executive decisions.

Responsibilities

• Investment & Financial Modeling: build financial models and analyses for new revenue initiatives; model pricing strategies and margins.
• P&L Performance & Yield Acceleration: run recurring reviews; identify margin expansion and cost inefficiencies; reallocate capital.
• Investment Trajectory & Risk Monitoring: track performance vs investment thesis; flag risks and propose corrective actions.
• AI-Powered Lead Generation & Growth: build/deploy AI agents for prospecting, lead qualification, enrichment, and follow-up; optimize lead funnel.
• AI & Automation: automate reporting, analysis, and decision support; test LLMs and automation platforms.
• Executive Exposure: prepare decision-ready materials for the C-suite; present findings clearly to leaders.

The Role

Valnet is seeking anInvestment & AI OperationsAnalyst to join our team. This is a unique hybrid role for someone who thinks like a financial operator but builds like a technologist. You will partner with business unit leaders to identify, quantify, and execute profitability improvements -linking investment theses and operating priorities to measurable financial outcomes - while simultaneously leveraging AI and automation to accelerate analysis, lead generation, and revenue growth.

This is a build-and-grow role. You will model, build, deploy, measure, and scale.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment & Financial Modeling

• Build financial models and ad hoc analyses to evaluate new revenue initiatives (direct deals,partnerships, DB monetization, premium products, etc.)
• Model pricing strategies, ramp curves, retention rates, and contribution margins
• Support the development of business cases for new monetization streams

2. P&L Performance & Yield Acceleration

• Run recurring P&L and KPI reviews across portfolios
• Identify margin expansion opportunities and cost inefficiencies
• Recommend capital reallocation toward higher-yield initiatives
• Improve revenue quality - predictability, retention, and margin mix

3. Investment Trajectory & Risk Monitoring

• Monitor performance vs. investment thesis (VBS leaderboard)
• Track milestones and leading indicators; flag risks early and propose corrective actions
• Ensure resources flow to the highest-performing initiatives

4. AI-Powered Lead Generation & Growth

• Build and deploy AI agents that automate prospecting, lead qualification, enrichment, and follow-up
• Identify bottlenecks across the lead generation funnel and build automated workflows to increase volume, quality, and efficiency
• Integrate lead generation data with revenue platforms and other business systems
• Analyze data to understand which channels, campaigns, and lead sources drive the highest-value results
• Build reporting and feedback loops that connect lead generation activity directly to revenue

5. AI & Automation

• Use AI tools fluently to automate reporting, analysis, and decision support
• Test LLMs, AI agents, automation platforms, and APIs to uncover new operational and growth opportunities
• Build lightweight agents and workflows to increase analytical velocity and decision speed
• Continuously experiment, optimize, and scale what works

6. Executive Exposure

• Prepare decision-ready materials for the C-suite
• Present findings clearly, concisely, and with conviction
• Work closely with growth, revenue, and operations teams to turn business opportunities into measurable outcomes

What We're Looking For

Required

• 0 - 5+ years of experience in M&A, private equity, strategy consulting, transaction services, or a related finance role
• Good P&L intuition - understands operational drivers, not just financial outputs
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets modeling (scenarios, sensitivities, dynamic dashboards)
• AI-native mindset with strong hands-on experience using modern AI tools (LLMs, agents, prompt engineering, workflow automation)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable business insights
• High ownership mentality, bias for action, and comfort operating in ambiguity
• Clear communicator - simplifies complexity and influences decisions at the executive level
