Job summary

BC Ferries is seeking an experienced Inventory Supervisor to lead inventory operations at the Delta Warehouse. You will oversee system enhancements, stocking levels, and accuracy to support fleet readiness and efficient operations.

You will manage a team, analyze data, coordinate with multiple departments, and ensure QA standards while driving continuous improvement. APICS certification is preferred; 5+ years in inventory control and 3+ years in supervision are expected.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, IT, or related discipline.
  • APICS certification preferred or actively pursuing.
  • BC or Inter-provincial TQ in Industrial/Automotive Warehousing is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of Inventory Control experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisor experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, WMS and ERP systems, and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Administering the inventory system: design, develop, document, test, implement enhancements; create work orders; monitor accuracy.
  • Establish stocking levels by analyzing data and forecasting vessel needs; authorize purchases.
  • Maintain quality assurance by collaborating with customers and internal departments.
  • Monitor inventory performance: counts, discrepancies, data analysis, KPI reporting.
  • Lead the inventory team: assign work, train, coach, manage schedules and attendance.
  • Ensure procedures for returns, end-of-life disposal, new item onboarding, and related processes.

TheOpportunity

We'relooking for an experienced Inventory Supervisor to lead inventory operations across BC Ferries. In this role,you'llhelp keep our fleet running efficiently by leading inventory operations, supporting operational readiness, and collaborating with teams across the organization to drive effective inventory management and continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Warehouse & Inventory some key responsibilities include:

  • Administeringthe BC Ferries inventory system, including designing, developing, documenting, testing, and implementing system enhancements and procedures; creating work orders;monitoringsystem accuracy and integrity; and developing reports to track inventory accuracy and movement;
  • Establishingandmaintaininginventory stocking levels by analyzing inventory data,determiningreorder points, reviewing replenishment orders, identifying and actioningexpeditingoutstanding orders and stock variances, forecasting vessel requirements,identifyingpurchasing needs, and authorizing inventory purchases and stocking requirements;
  • Establishingandmaintainingquality assurance standards by collaborating with customers and internal departments toidentifyrequirements, review inventory products, respond to inquiries,identifysuitableproductsand authorizestockingrequirements;
  • Monitoringinventory performance and accuracy by planning and organizing inventory counts,determininginventory levels, resolving discrepancies, completing data analysis, and developing weekly inventory metrics and KPI reporting;
  • Leadingthe inventory team byallocatingwork, setting priorities, providing orientation, training, coaching, and troubleshooting support, evaluating performance, resolving problems, and monitoring schedules and attendance;
  • Ensuringprocedures are in place tomaintaininventory accuracy, including material returns, end-of-life disposal,new itemonboarding, and related inventory processes;
  • Other related duties may be assigned from time to time.

What you bring to the team

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, IT, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience in inventory management
  • APICS certification, or actively working towards APICS Certification is preferred
  • BC or Inter-provincial TQ in Industrial/Automotive Warehousing is considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of Inventory Control experience
  • Minimum 3 yearspreviousSupervisor experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, WMS and ERP systems, maintenance management systems, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, delegation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability toestablishandmaintaincooperative working relationships
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while contributing to a collaborative team culture
