Job summary

CTDI Careers in Calgary, AB seeks an Inventory Lead to manage, optimize and secure accuracy of our inventory across 3PL operations. You will lead cycle counts, audits, and KPI reporting, collaborating with sourcing and operations to reduce stockouts and improve material flow.

The role requires 3+ years of inventory leadership, hands-on ERP/MRP experience, and strong communication. You’ll train staff, implement controls, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years inventory leadership experience in high-volume production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Understanding of inventory control principles and procedures.
  • Problem-solving skills and strategic thinking with continuous improvement focus.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with multitasking abilities.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with customer-facing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Support formal inventory control programs in 3PL distribution centers.

Job description

  • Maintain accurate record-keeping systems to track inventory movements and levels.
  • Supervise inventory cycle counts, conduct audits, and ensure efficient stock management.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and leads the implementation of complex cross functional inventory control process improvement initiatives, with a focus on forward-thinking project introduction, development, and execution.
  • Communicate effectively with management and customers to ensure SLAs are met and issues are promptly resolved.
  • Responsible for meeting or surpassing daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), with accurate reporting that consistently exceeds customer expectations.
  • Proficient in MRP and ERP systems for inventory management, supporting and educating team members on their daily utilization.
  • Collaborate with the sourcing team to establish and implement optimal Min and Max levels for critical consumables to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support the implementation of a formal inventory control program in our 3PL distribution centers and ensure the execution of standardized inventory procedures.
  • Effectively leverage and enhance inventory reports for internal and external purposes.
  • Assists in analyzing inventory data, identifying trends, and making recommendations to optimize inventory levels and minimize stock outs or overstock situations.
  • Provide first level of support for any escalated issue during work shift.
  • Engages in employee relations initiatives, promptly addressing and resolving employee concerns to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Assists in P&L forecasting and analysis, alongside labor planning and scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards to maintain a safe working environment for employees and visitors.
  • Own inventory accuracy KPIs and daily inventory performance.
  • Lead cycle counts, physical counts, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Investigate inventory variances, shrinkage, and location discrepancies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions, locations, and system records.
  • Manage obsolete, excess, damaged, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Optimize warehouse material flow, slotting, and inventory placement using velocity/heat-map analysis.
  • Monitor receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, and shipping processes for inventory accuracy.
  • Support internal, customer, and external inventory audits.
  • Train warehouse employees on inventory controls, scanning, and transaction processes.
  • Partner with Operations and Quality to resolve inventory issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, productivity, and material flow.
  • All other duties assigned, based on the business the warehouse supports.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years inventory leadership experience, including overseeing large inventories and audit procedures preferably in a high-volume production environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • An understanding of inventory control principles and procedures.
  • Capable problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities, demonstrating a strategic approach with a focus on achieving results and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, demonstrating effective verbal and written communication.
  • Capacity to engage with customers in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
