Job summary

EBC Inc. is offering an internship for civil or electrical engineering students to support project management duties on site in Campbell River, BC. You will monitor daily works, assist planning, coordinate with foremen and subcontractors, and help with plans and specs.

The program ranges 4 to 12 months; we value willingness to travel, teamwork, and fast learning. The internship provides exposure to diverse construction projects across Canada and potential full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering, in progress.
• Relevant experience in engineering or construction is an asset.
• A driver’s license and/or ability to travel may be required in some cases.
• Agrees to work 4 months on site (Campbell River).

Responsibilities

• Monitor works daily through the technical and administrative tasks assigned to you.
• Plan and oversee works coordination with foremen, surveyors, superintendents, engineers, project managers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and follow up on technical issues in plans and specifications.
• Prepare, monitor, analyse and manage subcontractor files.
• Contribute to contract negotiations when necessary.
• Contribute to project scheduling.
• Obtain permits and authorizations required to carry out work.
• Plan and check material orders as needed.
• Follow-up on “Conflict detection” when the project is executed in BIM.
• Assist, review and communicate technical questions and change requests to the customer representative and follow-up when required.

During your internship, you will be involved or oversee duties usually assigned to a Project Manager. You will assist the Project Manager in various tasks pertaining to the job site, including planning, organizing, and supporting project execution works; from negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to providing support with work methods. You will also develop and suggest improvements to design standards, advise, and solve complex design and engineering issues on site.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering, in progress.
