Job summary

EBC inc. is seeking an engineering internship in Campbell River to support project management on diverse Canadian projects. You will assist the Project Manager with planning, coordinating, and executing site activities while addressing design and engineering issues on site.

The role emphasizes versatility, teamwork, and fast learning, with opportunities to contribute to design improvements and materials planning. Accommodation to travel and on-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering is in progress.
• Relevant experience in engineering or construction is an asset.
• Driver's license and ability to travel may be required.
• Willingness to work on-site for 4 months in Campbell River.

Responsibilities

• Monitor works daily and handle technical/administrative tasks.
• Plan and oversee coordination with foremen, surveyors, engineers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and follow up on technical issues in plans and specs.
• Assist in project scheduling, negotiations, and contract-related activities.
• Contribute to development of construction methods per contract requirements.

During your internship, you will be involved or oversee duties usually assigned to a Project Manager. You will assist the Project Manager in various tasks pertaining to the job site, including planning, organizing, and supporting project execution works; from negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to providing support with work methods. You will also develop and suggest improvements to design standards, advise, and solve complex design and engineering issues on site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor works daily through the technical and administrative tasks assigned to you.
• Plan and oversee works coordination with foremen, surveyors, superintendents, engineers, project managers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and follow up on technical issues in plans and specifications.
• Prepare, monitor, analyse and manage subcontractor files.
• Contribute to contract negotiations when necessary.
• Contribute to project scheduling.
• Obtain permits and authorizations required to carry out work.
• Plan and check material orders as needed.
• Follow-up on "Conflict detection" when the project is executed in BIM.
• Assist, review and communicate technical questions and change requests to the customer representative and follow-up when required.
• Plan, supervise and contribute to the development of appropriate construction methods and processes per contractual requirements, while respecting current health and safety requirements.
• Participate in site meetings with various project stakeholders.
• Follow up and manage deficiencies at the end of the project.
• Contribute to traffic management when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering, in progress.
• Relevant experience in engineering or construction is an important asset.
• A driver's license and/or ability to travel may be required in some cases.
• Agrees to work 4 months on site (Campbell River).
