Job summary

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications for the position of International Languages Instructor - Mandarin. Instruct classes on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 12:00 at a Windsor site, with the October 3, 2026 start date and a 25-week term (Oct 2026–May 15, 2027).

The assignment may extend annually by agreement between employer and employee. The successful candidate will be fluent in Mandarin, possess strong communication skills, and support inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Proficiency and fluency in reading, speaking, and writing in Mandarin.
• Proficiency in computer skills such as Word, Excel, or other database software.
• Legally allowed to work in Canada, over the age of 18.
• An interest and passion about languages.
• Classroom experience considered an asset.
• Effective organization, communication skills, and respect within the classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Instructing students to learn the Mandarin language.
• Demonstrate collaborative, presentation, written and oral communication skills to support the delivery of the program.
• Assist with the promotion of the International Languages Program.
• Experience working with youth and adult students would be considered an asset.
• Current police clearance with a Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from interested, qualified candidates for the position of International Languages Instructor - Mandarin. International Languages Instructor will instruct classes on Saturday mornings at a school site(s). Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon commencing October 3, 2026.

Position: International Languages Instructor - Mandarin

Duties: Instructing students to learn the language.

Term of appointment: October 2026 to May 15, 2027. This position is a 25 week assignment, extendable on an annual basis by agreement between both employer and employee.

Salary: $40.06 per hour (including pay for Vacation and Statutory Holidays) in accordance with the OSSTF Continuing Education Instructors Collective Agreement.

Nature & Scope of Position:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Demonstrate strong collaborative, presentation, written and oral communication skills to support the delivery of the program.
• Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
• Assist with the promotion of the International Languages Program.
• Experience working with youth and adult students would be considered an asset.
• Current police clearance with a Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
