Job summary

WSP is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Buildings team in Canada. You will assist in designing and analyzing technology systems for smarter, safer built environments alongside experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree program.
• Returning to full-time studies upon completion of the internship term.
• Strong interest in technology design, security systems, building systems, or renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or other engineering software is an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with an eagerness to learn.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and analysis of technology systems, including security, communication, and audiovisual (AV) systems for buildings, infrastructure, industrial, and energy-related projects.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, reports, and technical memoranda that contribute to project success.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop innovative solutions.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, and field investigations.
• Review applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
• Assist with project coordination activities, documentation, and communication across project teams.
• Contribute to project outcomes that enhance communities, improve infrastructure, and support sustainable development.

• A valid driver's license is considered an asset for positions involving fieldwork and site visits.

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $24.80 - $32.65 per hour

MB & ON: $23.20 - $30.55 per hour

Atlantic Provinces & QC: $22.20 - $30.55 per hour
