Job summary

Pomerleau is seeking a Surveyor Intern to support major construction projects across Canada. You will assist with layout, monitoring, laser scanning, and field activities, and gain hands-on experience with robotic total stations and GNSS receivers on active sites.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Geomatics Technology, Civil Engineering, or related programs, enjoy outdoor work, and show strong teamwork and communication skills. Training will be provided and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Geomatics Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction, or related program.
  • Strong interest in construction surveying and geomatics.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Positive mindset and excitement for on-site action.
  • Team collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with construction layout, monitoring, laser scanning, and survey field activities.
  • Handle the survey rod for topography and set layout points.
  • Learn and operate survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, digital levels, and terrestrial laser scanners.
  • Follow instructions from the Chief Surveyor, Project Manager, and Superintendent.
  • Assist in preparing field notes, sketches, reports, data, and survey documentation.
  • Assist with survey equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management.
  • Follow all safety policies and on-site procedures.

To be eligible for Pomerleau’s internship program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application and for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Reside in Canada at the time of application and for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Be duly enrolled in a Canadian post‑secondary institution or have graduated from such an institution within no more than six (6) months prior to the internship start date.

What You'll Do

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license is considered an asset.

Offered compensation may vary from the posted range based on a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and the final job for which they are hired.
