Job summary

Pomerleau invites you to join our Surveyor Intern program and gain hands-on experience supporting major construction projects across Canada. You will assist with layout, monitoring, laser scanning, and field activities while learning to operate robotic total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, and terrestrial laser scanners.

You will work under the guidance of the Chief Surveyor and Project Manager, developing field notes, sketches, and survey documentation with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Geomatics Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction, or related post-secondary program.
• Strong interest in construction surveying and geomatics.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• A positive mindset and excitement for being on-site daily.
• Proven track record of collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction layout, monitoring, laser scanning, and survey field activities.
• Handle survey rod for topography and set layout points.
• Learn and operate survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, levels, and terrestrial laser scanners.
• Follow instructions from senior survey staff and project management.
• Prepare field notes, sketches, reports, data, and survey documentation.
• Maintain survey equipment and inventory, assist with calibration.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Job description

To be eligible for Pomerleau’s internship program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application and for the entire duration of the internship.
• Reside in Canada at the time of application and for the entire duration of the internship.
• Be duly enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution or have graduated from such an institution within no more than six (6) months prior to the internship start date.

• Assist with survey equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.

What you'll bring:

• Currently enrolled in a Geomatics Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction, or related post-secondary program.
• Strong interest in construction surveying and geomatics.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• A positive mindset and sense of excitement for being in the action everyday on-site.
• A proven track record of team collaboration, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license is considered an asset.
• Ability to lift 50lbs
