Job summary

EQ Bank is seeking a Financial Analyst Intern in Toronto to support payroll and intercompany accounting for PC Bank and PC Insurance. You will handle journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and vendor payments while coordinating with Payroll, Treasury and other finance teams.

This hybrid role is based at EQ Bank’s Toronto office and involves month-end activities. You should have post-secondary education in Business/Accounting, a CPA in progress or equivalent, and 1–2 years in accounting.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation or in progress of obtaining one or related equivalent international designation
  • 1–2 years of accounting/finance experience – payroll accounting, month end, reconciliations
  • MS Excel – intermediate to advanced
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
  • Aptitude for figures and strong attention to detail
  • Good relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Booking intercompany entries for PC Bank and PC Insurance and reconciling balances
  • Support accounting automation initiatives and drive process efficiencies
  • Ad hoc reporting as required

Work Term: Starting Fall 2026 (4, 8 or 12months)

As a Financial Analyst Intern, you will be supporting the accounting processes for PC Bank and PC Insurance payroll, expense reports and intercompany transactions as well as the month end processes for PC insurance entities. This includes the booking of journal entries, performing monthly reconciliations and processing payroll vendor payments on time and accurately. To fulfill these tasks, the role would require active coordination with Payroll, Treasury , other finance teams and vendors as required.

The Core Responsibilities of the Job
  • Timely preparation of the bi-weekly payroll journal entries for PC Insurance and PC Bank including the review of the mapping of the payroll register to the correct General ledger accounts.
  • Timely preparation of the bi-weekly Expense reporting journal entries for PC Insurance and PC Bank
  • Performing payroll reconciliations and analysis of the monthly payroll costs and raising issues or concerns to the Director on a timely basis
  • Processing payroll vendor payments in coordination with the payroll, finance and treasury teams.
  • Supports the PC insurance month end process including booking all journal entries and performing reconciliations and analysis of actuals to budget variances in conjunction with other finance teams
  • Booking intercompany entries for PC Bank and PC Insurance as assigned and reconciling the intercompany account and coordinating with other finance teams to align on the intercompany balances.
  • Support accounting automation initiatives and drive continuous improvement to create process efficiencies and reducing manual processes
  • Ad hoc requests and reporting as required
Let's Talk About You!
  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • A CPA designation or in process of obtaining one or related equivalent international designation
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related accounting and finance experience – preferably in payroll accounting, month end processing and reconciliations
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS excel
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
  • An aptitude for figures and strong attention to detail
  • Good relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and analytical skills
  • Entry level hard and soft skills as well as personality traitsBasic understanding of the role to start and then working knowledge of the department/function in a few weeks to effectively deal with day-to-day issues

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from EQ Bank’s additional office space located at 2200-25 Ontario Street, Toronto, ON.
