Job summary

Bombardier is seeking an Intern for EcoJet – Technology Development Test Integration – Flight Control (Winter 2027) in St-Laurent, QC. The 8-month role focuses on developing and testing flight-control systems, with hands-on work on simulators, sensors, and data acquisition.

You will join a multidisciplinary team, program simulated flights, calibrate sensors, and help design test subsystems. Fluency in English and French is required, with a strong emphasis on planning, documentation and autonomy.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university program in electrical, mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Basic knowledge of conventional aircraft flight dynamics and flight control operation.
• Rigorous in planning, executing and documenting tasks.
• Highly motivated, curious, autonomous and versatile.
• Comfortable using hand tools and laboratory instruments.
• Good command of English and French.
• General knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, CATIA V5 and ability to learn new software.
• Basic knowledge of C++, Python, Arduino programming.
• College technical program completion or ENAÉrotechnique graduate is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Program and execute simulated flights and flight maneuvers using the autopilot and hand console; operate the flight simulator during testing.
• Ensure the application of the simulated aerodynamic load profile on flight control surfaces using the load control system; design and deploy load profiles according to test requirements.
• Ensure sensor calibration and recording of flight data using the data acquisition system.
• Process, reduce, cross-reference and synchronize data from onboard flight recorders and the data system.
• Collaborate with the flight test team to synchronize configurations between flight test drones and ISTR; reproduce failures and flight conditions.
• Design, fabricate and install test subsystems (hardware and software) to support testing.
• Participate in designing fault injection system in the experimental flight controller and servo controls; maintain ISTR logbook, write procedures, checklists and reports.
• Contribute to interface design with a reconfigurable full-scale flight simulator for initial pilot input studies in control laws.
• Maintain all systems and deploy configuration changes.

Intern: EcoJet – Technology Development Test Integration – Flight Control (8 months)

What are your contributions to the team?

• Program and execute simulated flights and flight maneuvers using the autopilot and hand console and operate the flight simulator during testing.
• Ensure the application of the simulated aerodynamic load profile on the flight control surfaces using the load control system, and design and deploy these aerodynamic load profiles according to the requirements for each test.
• Ensure sensor calibration and recording of flight data and sensors using the data acquisition system
• Perform the processing, reduction, cross-referencing and synchronization of data from the various on-board flight recorders and the data acquisition system.
• Actively collaborate with the flight test team to maintain the synchronization of on-board system configurations between the flight test drones and the ISTR, reproduce failures and flight conditions.
• Design, fabricate and install test subsystems (hardware and software) to support the problem-solving process and test execution in accordance with requirements.
• Actively participate in the design of the fault injection system in the experimental flight controller and servo controls.Maintain the ISTR logbook, write test procedures, checklists and test reports.
• Actively participate in the design of the interface with a reconfigurable full-scale flight simulator to support the first studies of pilot inputs in control laws.
• Maintain all systems (hardware and software) and deploy configuration changes.

• You are enrolled in a university program in electrical, mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• You have a basic knowledge of conventional aircraft flight dynamics and flight control operation such as ailerons, fins, elevator, slats, flaps, etc.
• You are rigorous in planning, executing and documenting tasks.
• You are highly motivated, curious, autonomous and versatile.
• You are comfortable using many hand tools to install mechanical parts, modify electrical wiring, connectors, circuit boards, etc.
• You are comfortable using many laboratory instruments and equipment such as sensors, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
• You have a good command of English and French
• You have a general knowledge of Matlab, Simulink, CATIA V5 and have an ease learning how to use new software.
• You have a basic knowledge of C++, Python, Arduino programming.
• You have previously completed a college technical program in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering or are a graduate of the École National d'Aérotechnique. (Asset)
