Job summary

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is seeking a dynamic communications intern to support sport and corporate communications. The role includes drafting materials, assisting with logistics for events, and managing media and web content across internal and external stakeholders.

The internship runs January 2027 to April 2027, offering a hybrid work model with up to two remote days per week. It is a paid internship with scheduling aligned to academic calendars.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Canadian degree or diploma program in Journalism, Marketing/Communications, Sport Management, or relevant field.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong writing, editing and research abilities with media background an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support Communications team operations, handling logistics and drafting materials.
  • Draft communications for internal and external stakeholders, including international sports partners.
  • Assist with events logistics, press conferences, photoshoots and team announcements.
  • Support media research, monitoring, and earned media reporting.
  • Update and publish web content; perform general administrative duties.

Job description

Be part of building a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

The COC is seeking a dynamic individual to join its communications team. This position will be responsible for supporting sport and corporate communications. The intern will be crafting communications for internal and external stakeholders, performing project management tasks for multiple projects and other communications initiatives, while assisting with administrative duties.

LOCATION

This internship will be located in the COC office in Montreal, QC at 500 Boul. René-Levesque, 2nd Floor or our Toronto office located at 250 Yonge Street, Suite 3000, Toronto, Ontario, M5B 2L7. We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to two days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

The successful candidate’s primary responsibility is to support the Communications team’s operations, assisting with logistics, research, and drafting materials.

  • Assist in drafting communications intended for internal and external stakeholders, including members of the international sports community
  • Assist with logistics and onsite support for events such as photoshoots, press conferences, Team Announcements
  • Assist with pre-Games support, press releases, media advisories, and team announcements
  • Assist with media research, media monitoring, maintaining media data base, earned media reporting and photo requests
  • Update and publish web content
  • Administrative tasks and other responsibilities, as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS
  • Must be enrolled in a Canadian degree or diploma program in Journalism, Marketing/Communications, Sport Management, or relevant field
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral & written
  • Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong writing, editing and research skills (background in media writing is an asset)
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, sport management, journalism, communications, government relations, and/or international relations
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Positive, outgoing personality
  • Eagerness to learn and be a team player
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mailchimp and WordPress
  • Ability to communicate in French is an important asset
  • Demonstrates and embodies the COC values of Accountability, Excellence, Fun, Respect and Bravery
TERM

This full-time internship will run from approximately January 2027 to April 2027, depending on the successful intern’s availability and the academic calendar.

COMPENSATION

This is a paid internship. The intern will earn an hourly wage of $18.50 with a maximum of 35 hours per week.
