Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Architect Intern in Dartmouth, Canada. You will design architectural schematics, space programming and site planning, developing the form of the building, sections, and details while contributing to sustainable prototypes.

You will work under Architects or Senior Designers, coordinating with engineers and other disciplines and managing multiple projects with guidance. A degree in Architecture is required and strong BIM proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• In the process of becoming a Registered Architect in Canada.
• Strong BIM knowledge and Revit proficiency is a must.
• Knowledge of Rhino, SketchUp, Grasshopper is an asset.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of Senior Architects, develop designs for projects in institutional, education, commercial, retail, and healthcare sectors.
• Assist in business development activities such as writing proposals and attending conferences.
• Evaluate and assimilate design changes introduced by the client or project architect.
• Coordinate architectural design with engineers and other design disciplines.
• Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Assist in preparation of deliverables at all project phases.
• Support practices on project delivery, quality control, and safety.
• Contribute to delivering excellence in design and communication.

Your Opportunity

You will work on tasks under the guidance of an Architect or a Senior Designer. This is an intermediate level Architect Intern design role. You will be designing architectural schematics, developing space programming and site planning, as well as developing the form of the building, sections, and architectural details. You will be working with an innovative team on creating new sustainable prototypes.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Senior Architects, develop designs for projects in a variety of sectors (institutional, education, commercial, retail, healthcare)

• Assist in business development activities such as writing proposals, attending conferences, reviewing work plans.

• Evaluate and assimilate design changes introduced by the client or project architect

• Coordinate the architectural design with other members of the design team along with engineering consultants and specialist design disciplines.

• Manage multiple projects at the same time, with minimal supervision.

• Assist in the preparation of deliverables at all project phases.

• Support good practices and established policies on project delivery, quality control, and safety

• Continuously contribute to our team’s goal of delivering excellence – in design, project delivery and communication

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• In the process of becoming a Registered Architect in Canada.

• Strong BIM knowledge and Revit proficiency is a must

• Knowledge of additional modeling and design software such as Rhino, SketchUp, Grasshopper is an asset

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and others

• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes

• Proven technical understanding of building science and construction contracts.

• Able to work effectively in managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with clients and design team members

Education and Experience

• A degree in Architecture (4 year) Undergraduate or Masters’ degree

• experience as a graduate architect, on a wide array of projects

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
