Job summary

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design, seeks an intermediate Architect Intern to design schematics, develop space programming and site planning under supervision. You will shape the form of buildings, sections, and details with an innovative team focused on sustainable prototypes.

Eligible candidates are pursuing Canadian architectural licensure, with strong BIM and Revit skills, and a portfolio to showcase work.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture (4 year) Undergraduate or Masters’ degree.
• Graduate architect with experience on a wide array of projects.
• Progress toward Registration as an Architect in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs for projects in institutional, education, commercial, retail, and healthcare sectors under guidance.
• Assist in business development: write proposals, attend conferences, review work plans.
• Evaluate design changes proposed by client or project architect.
• Coordinate architectural design with design team, engineers and specialists.
• Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Prepare deliverables at all project phases.
• Support delivery, quality control, and safety practices.
• Contribute to the team’s goals of design excellence and clear communication.

Your Opportunity

You will work on tasks under the guidance of an Architect or a Senior Designer. This is an intermediate level Architect Intern design role. You will be designing architectural schematics, developing space programming and site planning, as well as developing the form of the building, sections, and architectural details. You will be working with an innovative team on creating new sustainable prototypes.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Senior Architects, develop designs for projects in a variety of sectors (institutional, education, commercial, retail, healthcare)
• Assist in business development activities such as writing proposals, attending conferences, reviewing work plans.
• Evaluate and assimilate design changes introduced by the client or project architect
• Coordinate the architectural design with other members of the design team along with engineering consultants and specialist design disciplines.
• Manage multiple projects at the same time, with minimal supervision.
• Assist in the preparation of deliverables at all project phases.
• Support good practices and established policies on project delivery, quality control, and safety
• Continuously contribute to our team’s goal of delivering excellence – in design, project delivery and communication

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• In the process of becoming a Registered Architect in Canada.
• Strong BIM knowledge and Revit proficiency is a must
• Knowledge of additional modeling and design software such as Rhino, SketchUp, Grasshopper is an asset
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and others
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes
• Proven technical understanding of building science and construction contracts.
• Able to work effectively in managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with clients and design team members

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
