This is a remote opportunity for candidates based out of Atlantic Canada.
At i3 Underwriting, we are a leading provider of property and casualty insurance in Canada, offering innovative underwriting solutions to licensed brokers across the country. Our expertise allows us to underwrite even the toughest risks or resolve complex issues in standard risks.
Responsibilities
- Perform risk analysis using internal and external data resources for quoting, negotiating, and renewing existing policies, as well as accepting new risks of moderate complexity, following company guidelines and retention goals.
- Handle endorsement requests within delegated authority, engaging with brokers to clarify requests or seek missing information.
- Develop and support professional relationships with brokers by providing prompt service, responding to inquiries, proactively addressing issues, and resolving them with a solution-oriented approach.
- Make decisions based on available information, even if imperfect.
- Communicate decisions and respond to requests promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external parties, including attending industry seminars and networking events as needed.
- Negotiate coverage options with brokers within delegated authority parameters.
- Manage, grow, and strengthen a profitable book of business.
- Ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and delegated authority.
- Work independently to meet deadlines and accomplish goals following company policies.
- Take ownership of work activities and follow through on commitments.
- Handle pressure effectively, maintain a positive outlook, and recover quickly from setbacks.
- Prioritize tasks to deliver outcomes within set timeframes.

- Ensure files are complete, compliant, and of high quality, uploading documents to company software to maintain a paperless environment.
- Complete loss reports and post-claim underwriting reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in commercial underwriting or 5 years of commercial brokering experience.
- Actively working towards an insurance designation (CIP or CAIP preferred).
- Hold a broker license (Level 1 or 2), or be eligible to qualify within 90 days.
- Type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
- Proficient with office equipment and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Existing industry relationships to leverage for business growth.
Additional Details
The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000, influenced by skills, experience, location, and business scope. We offer comprehensive benefits including health and dental coverage, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid time off, and bonus opportunities.
