Job summary

Bidell Gas Compression is seeking an Intermediate Structural Drafting and Design professional in Calgary, Alberta. You will develop detailed structural drawings for gas compression equipment and related structures, collaborating with engineering and fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specs.

The role requires 3+ years in structural design, a drafting diploma (SAIT/NAIT or equivalent), and proficiency in AutoCAD and CADWorx.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in structural design or related field.
• Diploma in drafting from a recognized institute or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of structural assemblies including skids, cranes, piping supports, etc.
• Experience with welding details/symbols and 3D CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project standards and specifications and design instructions.
• Interacts with other project design and engineering teams.
• Prepares working drawings of skids, cranes, structural supports, and other design drawings.
• Collaborates with shop to build a detailed library for shop reference assemblies.
• Reports to the design supervisor on design status and progress.
• Identifies deviations, estimates changes, and issues notices as needed.
• Assists in training Jr. design associates and checks structural drawings for production.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We currently hiring for the role of Intermediate Structural Drafting and Design.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing detailed structural drawings and designs for gas compression equipment and related structures. You’ll collaborate with our engineering and fabrication teams to ensure designs are accurate, efficient, and meet project specifications and industry standards.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but are not limited to the following)

• Reviews project standards and specifications, design instructions.
• Communicates and interfaces with other project design and engineering teams
• The Draftsperson is responsible for preparing working drawings of skids, cranes, structural supports, and other design drawings
• Will work hand in hand with the shop representatives to build a detailed library for shop reference assemblies
• Reports to the design Supervisor lead about the status of the design activities
• Supports in identification of deviations in job scope, estimation of changes and notices
• Checking the work of, and assisting in training of Jr. design associates
• Must be able to accurately check all structural drawings required by production

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years’ experience in Structural Design
• A diploma in drafting from a recognized institute (e.g. SAIT, NAIT or equivalent), or suitable alternative experience is require
• Excellent understanding and knowledge of structural assemblies including skids, cranes, piping supports, and many other structural components
• Extensive knowledge of welding details/ symbols
• AutoCAD and 3D modeling CADWorx
• Strong attention to detail, good interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast paced TEAM environment
• Hardworking and able to handle multiple tasks
• OT may be required to meet deadlines
