Job summary

TBT Engineering is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead and contribute to building projects in Canada. The role involves advanced analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with codes and standards while guiding projects from concept to completion. The position is full-time with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; P.Eng. or licensure eligibility.
  • 10+ years of structural analysis and design experience for commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Proficiency with structural design software; strong knowledge of building codes and industry practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute structural engineering projects for building structures, including design, analysis, and detailing of steel, concrete, timber, and composite systems.
  • Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct structural analysis and assessments to ensure safety, performance, and code compliance.
  • Lead coordination with clients, consultants, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies for effective project delivery.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior/intermediate staff to support technical growth.
  • Support project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.

Position Description

Lead and contribute to a variety of Structural Engineering projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. Apply advanced technical knowledge in the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight while guiding junior staff and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

Position Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute Structural Engineering projects for building structures, including design, analysis, and detailing of steel, concrete, timber, and composite systems.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in Structural Engineering for buildings, supported by a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility for licensure. The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience in the structural analysis and design of commercial or institutional buildings. Candidates should be proficient with structural design and modeling software and have a thorough understanding of applicable building codes, standards, and industry practices. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are essential, with proven experience mentoring technical staff and managing multidisciplinary projects.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($125,840.00 per year +).
