Job summary

TBT Engineering is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to contribute to design of building structures across commercial and institutional sectors. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, review drawings and calculations, and ensure code-compliant solutions through all project phases.

The role emphasizes mentorship of junior staff, collaboration with clients and regulators, and involvement in budgeting and scheduling to deliver high-quality projects on time.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architectural Technology.
• 10+ years of experience in structural analysis and design of commercial/institutional buildings.
• Proficient with structural design and modeling software; strong knowledge of codes and industry practices.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and project management with mentoring experience.

Position Description

Contribute to the preparation of structural design projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across diverse engineering divisions in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. Apply advanced technical knowledge in the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight while guiding junior staff and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

Position Responsibilities

• Execute design for Structural Engineering projects for building structures, including design, analysis, and detailing of steel, concrete, timber, and composite systems.
• Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documentation.
• Conduct structural analysis and assessments to ensure safety, performance, and compliance with applicable building codes and standards.
• Lead coordination with clients, consultants, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure effective project delivery.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate staff, promoting technical growth and professional development.
• Support project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes, and municipal requirements.
• Contribute to proposal development and business development initiatives through client engagement and technical input.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in Structural Engineering for buildings, supported by a diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or Architectural Technology from an accredited institution. The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience in the structural analysis and design of commercial or institutional buildings. Candidates should be proficient with structural design and modeling software and have a thorough understanding of applicable building codes, standards, and industry practices. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are essential, with proven experience mentoring technical staff and managing multidisciplinary projects.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($32.47 per hour +).
