Job summary

TBT Engineering Limited is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to lead and contribute to Municipal Engineering projects in Ottawa. The role requires independent delivery of planning, design and construction support with mentorship of junior staff.

You will work on site development, transportation, drainage and municipal systems, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance across projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure, land development or municipal engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or equivalent.
• Strong project coordination and team leadership.

Position Description

Lead and contribute to a wide range of Municipal Engineering projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. Apply advanced technical knowledge in the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects, including site development, transportation, drainage, and municipal systems. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight while supporting the development of junior staff and ensuring projects are executed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Position Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee civil engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, reports, cost estimates, specifications, and tender documents.
• Conduct technical analysis and provide input on grading, drainage, utilities, roads, and other civil infrastructure systems.
• Lead coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure effective project delivery.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate staff, promoting technical growth and professional development.
• Support project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes, and municipal requirements.
• Contribute to proposal development and business development initiatives through client engagement and technical input.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in Municipal Engineering design and project delivery, supported by a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure, land development, or municipal engineering, with proficiency in design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or equivalent. Candidates should possess solid knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and municipal requirements, along with proven skills in project coordination, client communication, and team leadership.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($125,840.00 per year +).
