Job summary

TBT Engineering is seeking a senior civil designer to contribute to and lead the preparation of civil design projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

The role focuses on site development, grading, drainage, road and municipal infrastructure design, plus mentoring junior staff and ensuring designs are accurate, compliant with codes and standards, and constructible.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering; registration as a Civil Engineering Technologist is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review civil design drawings, plans, and technical documentation for site development, municipal infrastructure, and transportation projects.
• Conduct design calculations for grading, drainage, roadways, and utility networks.
• Coordinate design efforts with civil engineers, project managers, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure project alignment and constructability.
• Review and incorporate survey data, geotechnical information, and regulatory requirements into designs.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior designers, supporting their professional growth.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support proposal preparation, business development, and client engagement activities.
• Ensure all designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and company quality and safety systems.

Position Description

Contribute to and lead the preparation of civil design projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across diverse engineering divisions in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. Apply advanced technical knowledge in site development, grading, drainage, road and highway design, and municipal infrastructure. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff while ensuring designs are accurate, constructible, and compliant with applicable standards, codes, and project requirements.

Position Responsibilities

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in civil design, supported by a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field, with eligibility for registration as a Civil Engineering Technologist considered an asset. The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience in civil design, including site development, municipal infrastructure, and transportation projects. Candidates should be proficient with design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads and OpenRoads, and possess strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. Proven experience mentoring junior designers and coordinating design work across multidisciplinary teams is essential.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($32.47 per hour +).
