Qualifications

  • P.Eng. designation considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in utilities, industrial facilities, infrastructure, or engineering consulting.
  • Experience managing multiple small capital, maintenance, brownfield, or sustaining capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of scope, schedule, cost, risk, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of capital maintenance projects from planning through commissioning.
  • Develop execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, construction and contractor resources.
  • Lead client interfaces and maintain strong relationships with utility owners.
  • Monitor scope, schedule, costs, risks, and overall performance.
  • Lead project meetings, reviews, and stakeholder communications.
  • Manage change orders, scope modifications, and documentation.
  • Ensure safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support procurement activities including contractor selection and bid evaluations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and resolve delivery issues.
  • Coordinate turnover, commissioning and closeout.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and PM best practices.

Job Title: Intermediate Project Manager – Capital Maintenance

Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 6 Months

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of capital maintenance and infrastructure improvement projects for utility clients. This role is responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects from initiation through execution and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will act as the primary interface between utility clients, engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders while providing leadership throughout the project lifecycle. This position is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment managing numerous small-to-medium-sized projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of capital maintenance projects ranging from planning and design through construction and commissioning.
  • Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, construction, and contractor resources.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for utility clients and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, costs, risks, and overall performance.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder communications.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of project management experience within utilities, industrial facilities, infrastructure, energy, or engineering consulting environments.
  • Experience managing multiple small capital, maintenance, brownfield, or sustaining capital projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience working directly with utility owners, operators, or regulated infrastructure clients.
  • Familiarity with construction management, contractor oversight, and field execution activities.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and forecasts.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
