Job Title: Senior Project/Program Manager - Payments
Contract: 1 year
Location: Toronto (2 times in office per week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage assigned programs/projects through the full project lifecycle—from initiation and planning to execution and delivery—ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
- Define and track project success metrics with business outcomes as the primary measure of success.
- Proactively identify and mitigate execution risks to ensure delivery excellence.
- Act as a liaison between stakeholders, project teams, and other program/project managers, facilitating clear, consistent communication across all levels.
- Direct and coordinate cross-functional teams, including internal and external resources such as project managers, technical experts, business users, consultants, contractors, vendors, and regulatory entities.
- Ensure transparency through regular reporting on project status, budget, risks, and milestones to key stakeholders and sponsors.
Qualifications:
- 10–15 years of relevant project management experience, preferably in technology or infrastructure-related initiatives.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PMP certification (Project Management Institute) is an asset.
- Strong judgment, entrepreneurial mindset, and adaptability in complex and dynamic environments.
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written), stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to apply project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid) effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts, manage ambiguity, and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Deep domain knowledge acquired through extensive business and technical experience.
- In-depth analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a strong focus on data-driven insights.
- Experience in managing technology infrastructure projects is essential.
Core Competencies:
- Project/Program Management: Expertise in managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects with advanced knowledge of project delivery frameworks and tools.
- Requirements Management: While a dedicated Business Analyst may define requirements, the PM should understand the requirements process and its impact on delivery.
- Quality Assurance & Testing: Familiarity with QA, SIT, UAT, performance testing, and test automation. Able to analyze testing trends and proactively address quality issues.
- Business Intelligence: Continuously monitor program health and engage leadership when project status changes.
- Communication Management: Deliver timely and accurate project updates, including administrative and financial metrics, to business sponsors and key stakeholders.
- Cost Management: Manage project budgets within approved funding. Analyze financial variances and partner with Finance to meet monthly reporting requirements.
- Resource & Change Management: Skilled in navigating organizational change—identifying impacts across people, processes, and technologies, and aligning resources to support transformation.
