Job description

Who we are
About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Our Developer Platform team is dedicated to enhancing developer experiences. We build an array of tools for both external developers and internal product teams, encompassing APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and web-hooks. This expansive domain spans Stripe's API services, Developer products, and API event management, driving seamless integrations and exceptional user experiences.

What you’ll do

As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing Stripe's developer experience initiatives. This position is about more than managing technical programs; it's about driving innovation to enhance our API ecosystems and deliver exceptional value to our users. Strong product sense is required, i.e. you influence the end user experience in a delightful way. You will work on expanding existing external API developments to reach a wider audience, both internally and externally.

In this proactive and independent role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influencing and aligning with high-level leadership, including C-level executives, to achieve strategic objectives. Success requires a deep understanding of external Developer APIs, API Docs, and SDKs, along with the ability to effectively engage with colleagues in partner teams. Your efforts will be pivotal in streamlining processes and contributing to Stripe's growth, enabling our teams to push the boundaries of developer experience and impact the broader financial infrastructure landscape.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute cross-functional programs across engineering divisions.
  • Manage technically demanding programs, leveraging systems and engineering knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Product Architects to enhance operational efficiency within teams.
  • Develop, implement, and refine program management frameworks and metrics for goal achievement.
  • Establish and report on program health and success metrics, using data for strategic decision-making.
  • Standardize documentation and project communication processes for consistency and alignment.
  • Leverage data to drive strategic decisions and reporting at the leadership level.
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply.

Minimum requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in software/systems engineering or technical product/program management.
  • Experience in improving developer experience.
  • You are technical and may have worked as a product manager or influenced process/program/product changes broadly at a company level.
  • Proven track record in comprehensive program management across software development phases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at building strong relationships.
  • Proficient in driving process improvements across diverse teams and functions.
  • Autonomous leader experienced in managing large-scale efforts and global stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in large-scale platforms and organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading global initiatives, building APIs, products, and scalable systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $157,600 - $236,500. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
