Job summary

Long View in Edmonton is seeking an experienced Network Consultant (Intermediate) to join our Service Delivery team. You will design, implement and support network solutions for clients, building trusted relationships with stakeholders while aligning with governance and security requirements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in IT with network architecture, experience with Palo Alto, F5, Cisco IOS/NXOS, and CCNA/CCNP, and a passion for practical, scalable networking.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT experience with network architecture design and deployment.
• Experience with networking and security best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and F5 load balancers.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VPNs, NAT, and routing protocols.
• CCNA and CCNP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement network solutions based on client requirements.
• Design and/or implement standard or custom network solutions.
• Participate in security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Create and maintain design and operations documentation.
• Gather customer needs and translate into network requirements.
• Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and training on implemented systems.

We are looking for an energetic and client-orientated Network Consultant (Intermediate) for our Edmonton branch. You will be a member of our Service Delivery team and work on multiple projects with various clients. You will build trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, while providing consultancy services for the design and implementation of industry leading network solutions.

• Develop network technology solutions, taking into account business and technical requirements, sizing, existing infrastructure, data protection, security requirements and governance and recovery objectives to ensure solutions resolve clients’ requirements and challenges
• Design and/or implement standard or custom technical solutions
• Participate in operational escalations to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
• Participate in implementation of network and system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
• Create relevant documentation as required (including but not limited to conceptual design, logical design, physical design, bill of materials, as-built diagrams, knowledge transfer materials, FAQs, transition to operations information)
• Participate in gathering data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements
• Participate in recommending changes to improve systems and network configurations in client environments, and determine hardware or software requirements

• 5+ years of experience in an IT environment with network architecture design and deployment
• Experience with networking and security
• Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and F5 load balancers
• TCP/IP, IPSEC Site to Site VPN, GRE, Client VPN, NAT, VRF technologies
• Cisco ISE
• Ability to provide ongoing support, maintenance, and training on the implemented systems
• Ability to perform network assessments and design recommendations
• Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve network issues
• Data Center technologies such as VPC, VDC, FcoE, FC, virtual switching
• Cisco IOS and NXOS
• Layer 2 Technologies such as switching, VLAN, spanning tree
• Layer 3 Routing protocols: MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
• Wireless design and configuration
• Understanding of:
  • Cisco Voice/Call Manager
  • Cisco Meraki, SDWAN
  • Software-defined Networking (SDN)
  • Network monitoring solutions
