Job summary

WSP seeks an Intermediate Mine Waste Engineer to join our Western Canada team, contributing to tailings storage facilities and waste rock spoil projects through geotechnical analysis, field investigations, design, construction support, and reporting.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary group, mentor junior engineers, and uphold safety and regulatory standards while delivering practical, sustainable mine waste solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, mining, or related engineering.
  • 5–7 years of relevant mine waste management or geotechnical experience.
  • P.Eng. designation in Alberta or British Columbia, or eligibility for registration.
  • Experience with tailings dam design and mine waste management.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Ability to coordinate tasks and mentor junior professionals.
  • Strong communication and data interpretation skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VBA.

Responsibilities

  • Support tailings storage facility and waste rock spoil projects through field investigations and design.
  • Deliver geotechnical analyses including stability, seepage, and deformation.
  • Develop mine waste management plans and site characterization.
  • Monitor system performance and identify improvements for safety and environment.
  • Produce proposals, reports, and stakeholder documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
