Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada in Calgary seeks an Intermediate Mechanical Engineering Developer to design rugged mechanical systems and drive them from concept through production. You will apply CAD, FEA, and environmental requirements while collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams.

The role emphasizes design for manufacturability, verification testing, and support for DND-related projects. Eligible candidates must be able to obtain security clearance and work in Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Min. 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience with NX/Simcenter 3D and PLM systems required.
• Knowledge of vibration, shock and harsh environments.
• Familiarity with military specs and ASME drafting.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs and drawings for rugged environments using CAD.
• Support the full design life cycle from concept to production ramp-up.
• Review drawings and BOMs to release designs.
• Apply structural, dynamic, and fatigue analyses; interpret results.
• Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
• Perform 3D scanning and vehicle cable routing.
• Define mechanical and environmental design requirements for specs.
