Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Designer to support nuclear and conventional system projects in Ontario. The role focuses on creating 3D models, P&IDs, and detailed drawings, while ensuring compliance with QA programs and standards.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, produce deliverables, and manage interferences within 2D and 3D environments, leveraging AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Smart Plant tools.

Qualifications

• College diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years in mechanical design and drafting.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, MicroStation, NavisWorks, Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
• Preferred knowledge of Hexagon Smart Plant tools - Smart 3D and Smart P&ID.
• ASME Code knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Create 3D models using Smart 3D and resolve interferences.
• Prepare P&IDs using Smart P&ID and generate piping isometrics and layouts.
• Produce engineering deliverables for nuclear and conventional systems per QA programs.

Overview

CANDU Energy Inc./AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is actively seeking qualified Intermidate Mechanical Designer to support engineering roles for nuclear projects in major areas, such as, new build in the province of Ontario, international new builds, refurbishment, and continuous plant operation support modifications for nuclear power plants.

Your role

• Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
• Prepare three-dimensional computer models using Smart 3D and resolve interferences.
• Prepare intelligent P&IDs using Smart P&ID.
• Create Piping isometrics, general equipment layout drawings, general arrangements, material take off lists, reports etc.
• Prepare engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc./Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
• Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure the compliances.
• Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.

About you

• College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 5 years in mechanical design and drafting.
• Working knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Micro Station, NavisWorks, Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
• Preferred knowledge of Hexagon Smart Plant tools - Smart 3D, Smart P&ID.
• ASME Code knowledge considered an asset.
• Sound knowledge of best practices and principles for equipment layout, pipe routing, pipe supports, maintenance and accessway volumes.
• Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporate changes in 2D and 3D environments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
• Must be "Team" oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.
