Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a skilled designer for nuclear and conventional systems. The role emphasizes 3D modelling, drafting, and coordination across disciplines to deliver compliant engineering deliverables.

You will work with REVIT, AutoCAD Plant 3D, MicroStation, and other tools, participating in lifecycle activities from concept to close-out, while collaborating in a hybrid Canadian workplace.

Qualifications

• College diploma or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years in I&C and mechanical design and drafting.
• Strong REVIT and AutoCAD proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/update 3D models for instruments, devices, racks.
• Develop P&IDs and installation details using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Identify interferences and clashes with design activities.
• Develop specs for control systems, HVAC, boilers, chilled water, and related systems.
• Assist teams across projects and share knowledge.
• Coordinate requirements with electrical, architects, and authorities.
• Create feasibility studies and technical reports.
• Prepare documents in AutoCAD and MicroStation; 3D modeling.
• Follow client document management and QA requirements.
• Develop deliverables for nuclear and conventional systems per QA programs.
• Apply codes and standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interface with engineering teams throughout project lifecycle.

Your role

This position requires working on fast paced technically complex projects in the nuclear industries. Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and/or review of the following:

• Prepare and/or update existing 3D modelling platforms associated with instruments, field devices, instrument racks.
• Prepare and assist in development of P&IDs, instrumentation installation details, instrument rack drawings using AutoCAD, Plant 3D and Plant P&ID platforms.
• Assiss in identifying interferences and clashes with other design and modelling activities.
• Assist in developing designs and technical specifications for systems such as control system drawings, Heating, Air conditioning, Ventilation, boilers, chilled water, along with other related systems.
• Assisting others in the office with several projects - a knowledge sharing atmosphere.
• Coordinating system requirements with the electrical department, architects, relevant authorities.
• Assist in developing feasibility studies and technical reports.
• Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or Microstation; Sketching, and three-dimensional computer modeling.
• Follow client driven file management system for document storage.
• Prepare engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. / Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
• Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure the compliances.
• Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.

About you

College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 3 years in I&C and mechanical design and drafting.

Working knowledge of REVIT is a must.

Working knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Micro Station, NavisWorks Freedom and SolidWorks.

ASME Code knowledge considered an asset.

Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporates changes into AutoCAD files.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.

Must be "Team" oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.
