Role Overview

In the role of Intermediate Group Underwriter, you will work with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross achieves its financial targets on the group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Establish renewal pricing, including analysis of experience/trends to justify renewal reasons and recommend pricing options. Respond to client inquiries related to pricing and experience.
2. Set rates for new group business and address financial questions within the specified guidelines.
3. Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
4. Draft and update financial agreements.
5. Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.
6. Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
7. Collaborate with internal teams such as Sales, Case Management, and Group Administration, as well as with agents, brokers, consultants, and policyholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary education
• Work Experience: Minimum of four years in Group Underwriting
• Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
• Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
