Job Description

About The Role

Egis’ Environmental Division has been recognized over the past 30+ years as providing high-level deliverables and advice to a variety of clients, throughout Ontario and the rest of Canada. With projects ranging from Phase I/One and II/Two ESAs, remediations, excess soil management and hydrogeological assessments to complex landfill studies, heli-access drilling, and mining support for emerging sectors, we have found that empowering our staff, even at the most junior levels, has allowed for significant growth in the environmental market.

Whether serving the public sector or partnering with private entities, we tailor our offerings to suit the unique demands of each endeavor, drawing upon a wealth of professional expertise and a wealth of experiences. We are looking for an Intermediate Environmental Project Manager to join our team in Eastern Ontario.

Duties And Responsibilities

As a member of our Environmental team, your duties will include, but are not limited to

  • Scope and manage/coordinate geo-environmental projects, including but not limited to:
    • Phase I and II ESAs;
    • Remediations;
    • Hydrogeological Assessments;
    • Excess Soils Projects (APU, SAP, SCR, ESDAR);
    • Waste Disposal Site Monitoring; and
    • Designated Substance Surveys.
    • Write winning proposals, set and adhere to project budgets;
    • Oversee and provide direction on technical fieldwork, analysis, and reporting;
    • On high-profile projects, fieldwork will be required;
    • Liaise with high-profile clients to ensure project needs are met on-time and on-budget; and
    • Other duties as may be required from time to time.


    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

    • Completion of a college or university degree in Science or Engineering;
    • Minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating ESA, hydrogeology, and/or remediation work;
    • Design skills with good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, Access, Outlook), Gint and other standard software for reporting, drawing, data analysis and communications;
    • Excellent initiative, a sense of pride in your work, and willingness to support your team;
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English (French would be considered an asset);
    • Good attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to think creatively and research independently;
    • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently in the field and in an office setting;
    • Both field and reporting experience in the areas of environmental site assessments, site remediation and hydrogeological studies, including soil and groundwater sampling and field hydraulic conductivity testing;
    • Familiarity with O. Reg. 153/04 (Brownfields and amendments) requirements, O.Reg406/19 (Excess Soil Management), O. Reg. 63/16 (Ontario Water Resource Act), O. Reg. 387/04 (Water Taking and Transfer Regulation) O. Reg 347 Waste Regulation, O. Reg 903 (and amendments) and environmental regulations in Ontario;
    • Familiarity with environmental regulations across Canada is an asset;
    • Ability to travel throughout Ontario and occasionally out-of-province for work assignments;
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including full days in the field during winter months
    • Licensure as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer not required, but considered an asset;
    • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
