Job summary

Tetranex Solutions, an Alberta-based engineering and procurement company, seeks an Intermediate Controls Technologist/Engineer for full-time work in Calgary. You will design, program and commission DCS/PLC/SCADA/RTU systems and mentor junior staff while interfacing with clients and vendors.

Required are a related engineering degree or technologist diploma and 5+ years in automation. Travel and site work may be involved; experience with multiple control platforms is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of automation/controls related experience.
  • Engineering degree or Technologist diploma or trades certificate equivalent level of field experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, programming and commissioning of industrial control and HMI systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA/RTU).
  • Experience with multiple control systems and asset software would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Wonderware InTouch/System Platform, Ignition, Factory Talk View HMI/SCADA systems would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding and development of engineering deliverables: P&IDs, Shutdown Keys, Control System Architectures, Control Narratives, Panel Drawings, I/O Drawings, etc.
  • Software and hardware acceptance testing.
  • Client and vendor communication and interface.
  • Experience with loop testing, commissioning and start-up support would be considered an asset.
  • Mentoring of Junior resources.

Position Description

Currently, Tetranex is seeking a full-time Intermediate Controls Technologist/Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, programming and commissioning of industrial control and HMI systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA/RTU).
  • Experience with Honeywell Experion PKS, Emerson DeltaV, ABB, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric industrial control systems would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Wonderware InTouch/System Platform, Ignition, Factory Talk View HMI/SCADA systems would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding and development of engineering deliverables: P&IDs, Shutdown Keys, Control System Architectures, Control Narratives, Panel Drawings, I/O Drawings, etc.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree, Technologist diploma or Trades certificate – equivalent level of field experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of automation/controls related experience.
  • Strong commitment and demonstrated safety performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness/ability to travel and prepared to do site work as required.
  • Electrical and/or Instrumentation experience an asset.
