Tetranex Solutions is seeking full-time Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineers to join our Calgary team. You will lead electrical design efforts for industrial EPC projects, collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and advance project execution with autonomy and technical leadership.

This role requires a degree in electrical engineering, a minimum of five years in EPC environments, and proficiency with ETAP/SKM.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree with minimum 5 years EPC experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA (Alberta).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to use ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
• Willingness to travel to job sites and meet clients.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Specify and procure electrical equipment such as Switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS Systems, Generators, Heat Trace Controllers, Harmonic Filters, Electrical Buildings and induction motors.
• Support mechanical engineers in the specification of pumps, compressors and process equipment packages.
• Review and mark-up vendor drawings with understanding of project integration.
• Develop load lists and electrical equipment lists for equipment sizing.
• Perform power system studies using ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
• Develop protection settings and single line diagrams for power systems.
• Create area classification drawings and conduct fugitive emissions studies.
• Oversee electrical designers in developing full electrical drawing packages.
• Lead electrical scope of small/medium projects; manage schedules and budgets.
• Provide leadership, technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
• Travel to job sites to scope projects and meet clients.

Position Description

Tetranex is currently seeking full-time Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineers to join our growing team. We are looking for experienced electrical engineers with strong industrial EPC experience who are comfortable taking ownership of their work, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and taking on increasing levels of technical and project responsibility.

This opportunity is well suited to both experienced Intermediate Engineers looking to take on greater responsibility and Senior Engineers with a proven track record of leading projects and teams. The level of technical project leadership, autonomy and responsibility will be based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• Specify and procure electrical equipment such as Switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS Systems, Generators, Heat Trace Controllers, Harmonic Filters, Electrical Buildings and induction motors.
• Support mechanical engineers in the specification of equipment such as pumps, compressors and process equipment packages.
• Review and mark-up vendor drawings with a full understanding of how they integrate with the overall project.
• Develop load lists, electrical equipment lists and other calculations to support the sizing and specification of equipment.
• Perform power system studies such as short circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonic mitigation and transient motor starting using applicable software such as ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
• Develop VFD, relay and other protection settings as required for project start-up.
• Develop single line diagrams for medium- and low-voltage industrial power systems.
• Create area classification drawings and details, and conduct fugitive emissions studies.
• Oversee and support electrical designers in developing full electrical drawing packages.
• Write scopes of work and create construction work packages.
• Facilitate field construction and fabrication tasks.
• Lead the electrical portion of small and medium-sized projects, with the level of project leadership and support provided based on experience.
• At the Senior level, take greater ownership of project execution, including managing schedules, budgets and change, preparing estimates, and leading client meetings and communications.
• Provide leadership, technical guidance and mentoring to other team members, as appropriate to experience level.
• Travel to job sites as required to scope projects, meet with clients and construction personnel, and support project execution.

Requirements:

• An Electrical Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5 years experience working in an EPC environment.
• Registered professional engineer with APEGA (Alberta). Registration in other provinces such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba would be an asset but not a requirement.
• Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to use ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
• Skilled in prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to job sites to scope out projects, meet with clients and construction personnel.
