Job summary

Echelon Insurance is seeking an Intermediate Claims Adjuster, Physical Damage in Mississauga to handle automotive, long-haul trucking, motorcycle, and RV claims of moderate to complex nature.

The successful candidate will investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims in a timely manner, with strong analytical and communication skills. This role requires solid knowledge of insurance contracts and effective coordination with brokers and vendors.

• Experience handling casualty claims or related experience.
• Ability to understand insurance contracts and coverage issues.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English; French an asset.

Position Details

The Intermediate Claims Adjuster, Physical Damage is responsible for handling of automobile, long haul trucking, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle physical damage claims. The claims are of moderate complexity. The successful candidate will have a dynamic personality and the ability to excel in a high performance environment. The Intermediate Claims Adjuster, Physical Damage ensures claims are properly investigated, evaluated, and resolved in a timely manner.

What You Will Do

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate personal/commercial lines claims of moderate to complex
• Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism
• Timely, accurate reserving in line with Corporate protocols and guidelines
• Maintain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniques
• Direct vendor partners as necessary
• Obtains approval from Manager on claims above authority
• Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre-trials and settlement conferences
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Unit Manager

Who You Are

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience handling casualty claims or related experience
• CIP or working towards designation
• Active provincial licensing is required
• Completed post-secondary education or equivalent experience
• Strong organizational; decision making and problem solving skillset
• Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions
• Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
• Fluent in English and French would be an asset
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
