Job summary

Echelon Insurance is hiring an Intermediate Commercial Claims Adjuster, Accident Benefits in Mississauga, Ontario. You will oversee automobile, trucking, motorcycle, and RV Accident Benefits claims, ensuring thorough investigation, evaluation and timely resolution.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of casualty claims experience, CIP in progress, and strong organizational and communication skills. The role involves negotiating, managing external adjusters, and reserving per guidelines.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
• CIP or working toward designation.
• 3–5 years experience handling casualty claims.
• Strong organisational, decision-making and problem-solving skillset.
• Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of external adjusters on outsourced claims.
• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate personal/commercial lines claims of moderate to high complexity.
• Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism.
• Timely, accurate reserving in line with corporate protocols and guidelines.
• Maintain control over expenses through proactive handling techniques.
• Direct vendor partners as necessary.
• Obtain approval from manager on claims above authority.
• Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre-trials and settlement conferences.

What You Will Do

The Intermediate Commercial Claims Adjuster, Accident Benefits is responsible for oversight and handling of automobile, long haul trucking, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle Accident Benefits claims. Claims vary in complexity, and the successful candidate will thrive in a high‑performance environment, ensuring claims are properly investigated, evaluated, and resolved in a timely manner.

• Provide oversight of external adjusters on outsourced claims
• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate personal/commercial lines claims of moderate to high complexity

Who You Are

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience

• Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
• Ability to cross‑reference information with attention to detail
• Strong general computer knowledge
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
