Job Title: Intermediate Automation Specialist

Location: Windsor, ON (Full-Time)

On behalf of our client, Forge Consulting Group is seeking a skilled Intermediate Automation Specialist to join their dynamic team.

We’re looking for an automation professional with a solid technical foundation and a passion for delivering exceptional solutions. In this role, you’ll work alongside an experienced controls team, contributing to the design, programming, and implementation of automation systems for diverse and challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and program automation and control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
  • Support controls design projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to timelines.
  • Produce detailed electrical schematics and specify hardware components.
  • Assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical challenges.
  • Evaluate systems and processes to recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand needs and propose tailored solutions.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation, including design specifications, testing results, and status reports.
  • Keep current with advancements in technology, industry trends, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of modular hardwired design standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a three-year College Diploma in a related field (required for TN Visa eligibility).
  • Internationally educated candidates must provide credential equivalency documentation.
  • 4–8 years of experience in automation, controls, or a closely related discipline.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Proficient in PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell and Siemens preferred).
  • Familiarity with vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence.
  • Strong technical communication skills for both clients and team members.
  • Proficient with CAD and drafting software.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications accurately.
  • Strong time management skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or eligible for a TN Visa, as some projects are U.S.-based.
